Belmont Shore Residents Association MINUTES GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING September 9, 2010 The meeting was called to order by President Aileen Colon at 6:05 pm. Thirty-seven BSRA members were present. The meeting agenda and the minutes of the August 12 meeting were approved. Secretary Jeff Miller then explained the ballot item to amend the Articles of Incorporation: the change will clarify that BSRA is a Public Benefit Corporation organized for civic purposes. Miller then described the election process, announced the slate of nominees, and called for additional nominees; none were offered. Members were then instructed to cast their votes. President Aileen Colon announced that the license hearing for Club Evo has been postponed again, this time to September 27. According to the City Attorney's office, this will be the last allowed postponement. Colon also explained the recent sewer overflow incident at BJ's Pizza restaurant and the resulting cleanup work by a HAZMAT team. Several issues and questions were raised by audience members: Concerns were expressed about the presence of the "food smoker" on the sidewalk at the restaurant Smoqe: is this activity permitted and is the resulting smoke an environmental problem? The city's quick response to complaints of alley potholes was noted - repairs were made shortly after the report. Councilman Gary DeLong responded to a question about the current paving projects on both Second Street in Naples and Park Avenue in Belmont Heights: The completion of the work on Second Street, including lane markings, is delayed until a state permit is obtained. The storm drain work on Park Avenue will be in progress for an additional month. The election results were announced shortly after 7 pm: The amendment of the Articles of Incorporation was approved. All Executive Board candidates were elected without opposition.
